This course addresses every active teacher since many times we have the challenge to work with students with special needs. The purpose of the course is to give the participants, through examples, the ability to understand and classify several types of special needs (dyslexia, autism, processing disorder, ADHD, behavioural or emotional disorders, limited hearing or blindness etc.) and, moreover, recognize a child with a disability in their classroom.

Trainees will learn inclusive teaching strategies and methods to educate students in a way suitable to their individual differences and needs. The course provides teachers with several examples, lesson plans, techniques and activities, so that, at the end of the course, they will be prepared to use certain educative methods for students with special needs.

Inclusive teaching strategies, which are provided in the course, will enable participants to use new, interactive learning methods applied to Special Education, create a positive learning environment and manage a classroom with students with special needs.

Working in Special Education is more than working with students with special needs, it is also an opportunity to be intrigued and creative as a teacher.

Target group:

The target group is teachers of primary or secondary education who work with students with special needs and want to give them access to knowledge and getting to know the joy of learning, as well.). Since nearly every general education classroom includes students with disabilities, this course is essential for every active teacher.

This course is suitable for Education professionals, such as School Chancellors, Managers, Principals, Career Officers and other professionals interested in Special  Education.

Aims:

This course will enable participants to :

• Learn about current researches and methods in Special Education
• Learn the different types of special needs, classify them and recognize a student with special needs in a classroom
• Use new applications, methods and tools that are essential for teaching in Special Education
• Help students with special needs, immigrants or students with learning disabilities participate and be involved in the classroom environment
• Develop the diary lesson plan with worksheets, practical examples and modern tools and adjust it, so that every child would experience the joy of learning
• Strengthen students with disabilities as well as collaborate with their families

Methodology:

The course is based on the fact that almost every teacher will meet a student with a disability in his career.

Participants get a fundamental understanding of students with special needs. Then, they learn the methods and techniques to educate their students with worksheets, practical examples and every day planned lessons. Inclusive education and interactive learning with modern tools and applications is the main purpose of this course. The participants will learn educational technology, robotics, modern tools and applications with presentations and interactive lessons, so, in the end, they can use them themselves.  They will learn how to interact with students’ families and also accommodate and modify their lesson to meet the needs of every student.

Outcomes:

The participants will learn:

• To classify the types of special needs and recognize a student´s disability
• To manage a classroom with a child with special needs in it
• To create lesson plans and worksheet appropriate to a student´s disability
• Methods and techniques to interact with the student´s family
• To broad and expand their own disciplines and
• New applications and strategies that are used in Special Education
